Contact routing. Four mailboxes on without.photos are live and each is used for what it says: hello@ general, safety@ reports of illegal content and danger, legal@ authorities and appeals, privacy@ data-protection requests. no-reply@ sends automated mail only and is never given as a contact - it is not monitored. In Germany an incomplete imprint, or one naming an address that does not accept mail, is an Abmahnung risk; law firms scan for it. This page must be reachable in two clicks from every page.
This imprint describes a private individual, not a company, because that is what Without currently is. The moment a UG or GmbH holds the service, the provider, the register entry and the representation all change - and so does the controller named in the Beta Test Agreement and the Privacy Policy. Change all three together or they will contradict each other.

On the telephone number. §5 DDG asks for a means of direct and efficient contact. Since the ECJ ruling on Deutsche Bahn (C-649/17) a telephone number is not strictly mandatory where an equally immediate channel exists, but German practice still expects one - and its absence is the single most common thing cease-and-desist letters latch onto. The number above must actually be answered, or at least take messages; an unattended line is the same defect as a bouncing address.
On the address. It must be real and summonable: a P.O. box will not do, nor will a virtual office that cannot accept service of process. Operating privately means this is a home address, publicly visible to anyone on the internet. That exposure - not the liability - is usually what pushes founders towards a UG or GmbH with a registered office, or towards a lawyer's address for service. Worth deciding before the beta grows.

Required because this site carries journalistic-editorial content. If you publish a blog, safety guides, or dating advice, this applies to you. The person named must have their address given in full - "c/o the company" is contested and best avoided.
The European Commission's ODR platform was discontinued on 20 July 2025. Do not copy the old boilerplate linking to ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr - that link is dead, and pointing consumers at a dead remedy is itself a defect.
Instead, state your position on consumer arbitration under the VSBG:
Consumer arbitration: We are not willing or obliged to participate in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board (Verbraucherschlichtungsstelle).
Saying "not willing" is lawful and common for a provider of this size; saying nothing is not. This changes if you ever employ more than ten people or take on an obligation by contract.
Without is an online platform hosting user-generated content, so the DSA applies.
If you are established outside the EU but serve EU users, you must additionally appoint a legal representative in the EU (Art. 13) and name them here.
Without is strictly 18+. Under the German JMStV, services with adult-oriented content must take reasonable steps to prevent minors from using them. We verify age at sign-up and remove accounts we find to belong to minors. Youth protection officer (Jugendschutzbeauftragter) per §7 JMStV: not appointed. The duty applies to providers with more than 50 employees or a substantial reach; a closed test with a handful of invited people is well below that. As a service provider we are responsible for our own content on these pages under general law. Under §§7-10 DDG, however, we are not obliged to monitor transmitted or stored third-party information, nor to investigate circumstances indicating illegal activity. Obligations to remove or block the use of information under general law remain unaffected; liability in that respect only begins from the moment we become aware of a specific infringement. On becoming aware, we remove the content promptly.
Our site does not carry links to third-party sites - links are blocked inside the app by design. Where any link does appear, we have no influence over the linked content and accept no liability for it. The respective provider is always responsible. Linked pages were checked for legal violations at the time of linking; permanent monitoring is not reasonable without concrete evidence of infringement, and on becoming aware of violations we remove such links promptly.

Reproduction, editing, distribution and any kind of exploitation outside the limits of copyright require our written consent. Downloads and copies of this site are permitted for private, non-commercial use only.

"Without" and the quotation-mark device are used as unregistered marks by Tim Veles. No trade mark has been registered yet, so this is a claim of use, not of a registered right.
This site and the app are hosted by Cloudflare Pages (Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA; EU data centres). The database, authentication and file storage are operated by Supabase (Supabase Inc., 970 Toa Payoh North, Singapore; project region Frankfurt, eu-central-1).
